Hilltop District Dumpster Day begins August 22, 2026

City of Richmond Announces Free Hilltop District Neighborhood Dumpster Day on August 22
Free event offers residents convenient waste disposal and metal recycling locations, plus special curbside pickup for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
RICHMOND, CA — August 12, 2026 — The City of Richmond Community Services Department, in partnership with Republic Services, Sims Metal, and the Hilltop District Neighborhood Council, has announced the upcoming Hilltop District Free Neighborhood Dumpster Day (Día en el Vecindario Para Tirar Basura Gratis).
The community cleanup event will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (or until dumpsters reach full capacity). Designed to promote community beautification and assist residents in safely disposing of unwanted household items, the event features three designated neighborhood drop-off locations:
3455 block of Park Ridge Dr & Bay Vista Park(Metal recyclables accepted at this site)
Wildflower Way (between Atlas Rd & Primrose Cir)
Hilltop Mall Parking Lot (near Hilltop Mall Rd & Hillview Dr)
Resident Requirements & Important Guidelines
Residential Use Only: This service is strictly for Hilltop District residents. Commercial waste, businesses, and U-Haul/rental vehicles are prohibited.
Verification Required: Residents must bring a current photo ID and a matching utility bill demonstrating proof of residency in the Hilltop District.
Drop-Off System: This is a drop-off event, not a standard curbside collection program.
For hazardous waste items prohibited from this event, residents are directed to contact West County Hazardous Waste at 1-888-412-9277 or visit 101 Pittsburg Ave, Richmond.
Special Assistance for Seniors and Disabled Residents
Curbside pickup assistance is available for eligible seniors and residents with disabilities on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
To schedule curbside pickup:
Contact Richmond Public Works at (510) 620-5509 before Wednesday, August 19, at 12:00 PM.
Limit is restricted to one pickup truckload per address.
Identification will be verified at the time of pickup.
Community Volunteers Needed
Community members interested in supporting the cleanup efforts are invited to volunteer. Interested individuals can email neighborhoods@ci.richmond.ca.us to be connected with their local neighborhood representative.
